Worksop Music Concert Series

Run by the College for music-lovers across the region, Worksop Music is a non-profit venture which aims to provide significant cultural enrichment at an accessible cost.

Attracting artists from across the UK and beyond, this series also features home-grown talent from across the school’s pupils and staff. This year’s programme continues the strong spirit of education imbued with quality and diversity: from the pianistic virtuosity of Benjamin Frith, superb choirs with international reputations and perspectives, to  the  Bohemian energy of the Dodo Street Band with their unique blend of Klezmer, Gypsy and Celtic Folk traditions.

The Dodo Street Band

An irresistible blend of exotic eastern European and Celtic folk roots, Dodo Street Band’s programme includes Niel Gow’s warm and beautiful ‘Lament’; one of the most beloved Celtic melodies (‘Will You Go Lassie Go’ or ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’) and a klezmer inspired melody are interspersed with wild gypsy dances and some extreme virtuosity along the way.

The Dodos boast a musical pedigree second to none, combining diabolical fiddle playing from international star Adam Summerhayes; outrageous brilliance from world number one recorder genius, Piers Adams;  horrifying high-ABV insanity from accordion master, Murray Grainger;  positively feverish  power from bass legend, Malcolm Creese; and dazzling bodhran playing from king of folk percussion, Cormac Byrne.
